These include incorrect storage and charging, which can result in uncontrolled and dangerous failure of the battery such as explosion, fire, and the emission of toxic fumes. Also discussed are coin-sized 3-volt lithium or "button" batteries which when ingested, send nearly 3,000 children (under 13) for treatment in emergency rooms each year.
